Dehydrogenase Activity in Human Tumors
نویسندگان
چکیده
A histochemical study was made of a-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase in human tumors of @30cases. Enzymatic activity was generally confined to the cell plasma in neoplastic cells, and stromal reaction was usually low or absent. The stainability for a-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase was constant in normal tissue, whereas that of neo plastic cells was variable. Squamous-cell carcinomas showed varying degrees of en zymatic activity. Adenocarcinoma exhibited a moderate to strong activity, and 47 per cent of the stomach cancers seemed to be moderately reactive. Adenomas and fibro adenomas in the breast showed a moderate activity. Activity and localization for a-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase showed no charac teristics, and no correlation was found with the degree of differentiation and malignancy.

INHIBITION OF HUMAN ERYTHROCYTE GLUCOSE 6-PHOSPHATE DEHYDROGENASE ACTIVITY BY DEHYDROEPIANDROSTERONE AND RELATED STEROIDS.
The inhibitory effects of several steroids on G6PD activity using intact erythrocytes are reported. Incubation of whole blood with dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) resulted in 42% and 12% inhibition in the enzyme activity in the presence and absence of oxygen, respectively. Addition of epinephrine and/or aminophylline into the incubation medium caused further enzyme inhibition suggesting a po...

متن کاملEnzymes of uracil catabolism in normal and neoplastic human tissues.
Enzymes of the pyrimidine base catabolism, dihydrouracil dehydrogenase (EC 1.3.1.2), dihydropyrimidinase (EC 3.5.2.2), and beta-ureidopropionase (EC 3.5.1.6) were compared in the cytosolic extract of several normal and neoplastic human tissues. The activity was measured by following the catabolism of [6-14C]-uracil to dihydrouracil, carbamyl-beta-alanine, and beta-alanine. Substrate inhibition,...
متن کاملCritical role of GSH in Sulfur Mustard-induced Oxidative Stress and Cytotoxicity in Human Skin Fibroblast Cell Line
In this study the role of glutathione (GSH) in sulfur mustard -induced oxidative stress and cytotoxicity, in human skin fibroblast cell line (HF2FF) was evaluated. Sulfur mustard-induced superoxide radical and hydrogen peroxide formation were evaluated by determination of superoxide dismutase and catalase activity in cell lysate. The cytotoxicity of sulfur mustard was estimated by lactate dehyd...
